Welcome to Walsh School!
We’re so excited that you are joining us this year; 2023-24 is going to be a great one!
A message from Mrs. Martin, principal of Walsh School:
Welcome
Welcome to Walsh School!
Walsh School houses early childhood, kindergarten and first grade students and plays an integral part in establishing a strong and positive foundation for school success. We not only stress a comprehensive curriculum with a focus on writing, reading and math, but also one that encourages good character, responsibility and a well- rounded child.
We believe children function and learn best with caring teachers and staff. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing a mutually respectful learning environment that supports and encourages each child to always do his or her best.
The parent involvement program is outstanding, and we are always grateful and excited when parents want to be involved with their child’s education. Our parents are recognized as an important part of each child's educational experience, and we encourage you to be involved in any way that you can. Being involved can mean helping out at school, participating in school and PFA activities, helping with homework, discussing the day’s events with your child, or just being supportive of the teacher and the school. Call the school office to see how you can become a volunteer. It is a positive experience for both parents and students, as well as a tremendous help to the teachers.
We are happy that you have chosen to visit our web page to learn more about the programs and activities at Walsh School. Stop in when you have a chance.
Our Values
Schedule
Early Childhood/Community PreSchool sessions are from 9:00-11:30 am and 12:45-3:15 pm daily.
Kindergarten and First Grade Student day is 8:50 am - 3:30 pm, with a strong variety of instructional techniques and activities to keep your child engaged in learning.
Attendance is taken at 8:50 am. If you know your child will be absent, call the office no later than 9:00 to report the absence.
Early Dismissal at 2:50 every Wednesday to allow staff the opportunity for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). This means a 2:45 pick up at the doors for kindergarten and first grade. EC/PreSchool hours on Wednesdays are as follows: AM: 9:00-11:00 / PM: 12:45-2:45.
Buses
Bus Tags - Your child will be issued a bus tag on the first day. Continue to leave it on your child’s backpack; it is our quick check to make sure your child is on the right bus.
Bussing tends to run slower for the first week or two. This happens because we have three separate checks of each bus student to make sure we are getting everyone on the right bus. In addition to that, drivers are diligently checking bus tags and pick up sheets to make sure everyone gets off in the right spot. As the driver gets to know your child and his/her pick up people, times will decrease and your child will get home closer to the specified drop off time. Please be patient.
Pick up / Drop off
Drop off - morning drop off line is in the North Street Parking Lot. Please follow the road markings and stay in the drop off circle. Stay in your car; do not park and walk to the door. Drop off begins at 8:40 and ends at 8:50. The Sunshine Crew is there to assist.
Pick up - please park and walk to the pick up door assigned to your class. Your teacher will let you know which door that is. Please remember, no pets on school grounds. Please be prompt at the pick up door for the 3:25 dismissal for walkers/car riders.

Parent Info
Security is a high priority in all of our schools. Please bring your driver’s license when you come to the building; you must have it to enter. We will scan your license through the security system for verification against the national sex offender database. Please, never hold the door open for anyone behind you; we ask all visitors to buzz in separately and state the purpose for the visit.
Treat bags are allowed to be passed out for birthdays or parties. Invitations may only be passed out if they go to the whole group (boys or girls) or class. Any food sent to school for treats or parties must be commercially made and pre-packaged. Please do not send cupcakes from the store bakery, as they are not individually and commercially wrapped. Feel free to call the office with questions.
iPads will be issued to students on day 2 or 3. You will be/have been sent an iPad contract to sign electronically. EC and Kindergarten students will leave their iPads at school, and first grade students will take theirs home daily. Please make sure to charge the iPad overnight and return it to school each day if yours goes home. Please remember to send a pair of headphones for your child to use at school.
